Rubbing of covers, own signatures, browning and traces of moisture on pages, p.53/54 with loss of lower corner, p.105/106 torn (preserved whole), one plate with illustrations loose. A cycle of historical and patriotic songs, creating an idealized vision of Poland's past. Niemcewicz wrote his work in 1808 - 1810, commissioned by the Society of Friends of Science, of which he himself became president in 1827. It consists of 32 works dedicated to major historical figures (mainly rulers) and significant events in Polish history.
