Description:

On pages 70-107 is the first printing of thethird[!] in order printed text by Adam Mickiewicz: "Notes on "Jagiellonida" by Dyzmas Boncza Tomaszewski, printed in Berdyczow r. 1818". Mickiewicz sent this text to Joachim Lelewel as "by name only an acquaintance, a student who once listened to his lessons," with a request that "if this writing seems to him worthy of publication, he deigns to speak a few words for it to the editor of the Warsaw Diary." Lelewel took care of the young student's work and published it in the offered issue of the "Memoir." The text is signed A. N. Mickiewicz, the initial N being the result of the young Mickiewicz's fascination with Emperor Napoleon.
