An old-school medical work by Benedetto Vettori (1481-1561), professor of medicine in Bologna and Padua, as well as philosopher and politician. A comprehensive work that is a compendium of Vettori's medical and pharmaceutical knowledge (theoretical and practical), it contains descriptions of diseases and their treatments, and cites the work of Ravenna physician Camilla Tomai (1st half of the 16th century,) on the rational method of treating the body. Of particular note is the author's reference to the achievements of Trotula of Salerno - a medieval physician and scholar, considered the first person to specialize in the treatment of women, especially gynecological aspects, described in a work known since the 12th century. "Passionibus mulierum curandis," quoted by Benedetto Vettori in the work offered. Slight staining of the binding, missing troc., minor staining of the final pages, considering the practical nature of the book, very good state of preservation. Rare!
