Front cover richly illustrated with patriotic and religious symbols. Matejko began work on the 44 boards in 1890 and continued for 3 years. He attached great importance to the faithful reproduction of both the attire, armament and facial features of the rulers. "Poczet" by Matejko shaped the images of Polish kings in the consciousness of many generations of Poles.
