A well-preserved piece of a monumental work by prominent art historians describing in detail the collection of European paintings of the last king of Poland. In front of the text a plate with a light reproduction of a portrait of Stanislaw August by Bacciarelli. Contains an extensive sketch of the artistic patronage of Stanislaw August, his contacts with artists, the history of the royal gallery of painting, its inventory to date and its fate after the death of the king. The essential part of the work is a catalog of the collection including 2,289 paintings, more than 200 miniatures, more than 150 drawings, equipped with indexes and indexes. At the end are plates with black and white reproductions of artworks. On the front cover a gilded SAR numeral under the royal crown.
