MALCHER Joh[ann] - Wie spreche ich mit meinen polnischen Landarbeiten? Deutsch-polnischer Sprachführer. Berlin [1940?]. Deutsche Verlags-Gesellschaft. 16d, pp. 68. broch.
Cover rubbed, front cover stained. Some catalogers, perhaps due to the Gothic font used here, backdate the book to around WWI. Phrasebook designed to make it easier for German employers to communicate with Polish agricultural workers. Useful phrases have been translated: Do!, Don't stop!, Fetch!, Grow!, Don't laugh!, Everyone will still get a pot to cook in, a bowl, a mattress and a quilt to cover, Tomorrow the doctor will come; he will inoculate every girl with octogenarians. It doesn't cost anything and doesn't hurt, In the evening after nine o'clock shy peasants make music, Don't be so stupid!, You lazy people, Look at the works!, Keep your mouth!, Ohend me boogers!, Bring me breakfast! Phonetic notation is provided for ease of use. Thus, the phrase "Booze to drink at the robots is sharply forbidden" should have been articulated: "Goschalken pitsch pschy robotsche is sharply sakasano".
