Lesser known novel by Kornel Makuszynski. A little later, also in 1937, he published "Satan of the 7th Grade," which gained great popularity and was reprinted several more times that year. "Satan..." overshadowed "Broken Sword", on top of that, due to communist censorship(withdrawn from children's libraries, omitted from bibliographies of K.M.'s works) the novel only lived to see its second edition in 1990. Both works have many elements in common, but the style may be "less successful" than in the case of "Satan...". [author: Jakub Jakimiak]
