Block slightly bent, covers slightly rubbed, good condition. Stamp. on title page. First novel of "one of the most outstanding authors of adventure war novels, as well as spy novels, detective novels and detective novels" ("Dictionary of Popular Literature", Wr, 1997, p. 238) presented to Polish readers and at the same time the author's book debut. It was published in 1955 and was based on MacLean's own experiences serving on a British cruiser in the North Atlantic during WWII. The novel was translated by Leonid Teliga, a sailor and journalist who was the first Pole to circumnavigate the Earth alone on the yacht "Opty" between 1967 and 1969. The cover was designed by Jacek Neugebauer.
