MACHEJEK Władysław - Living fire. Vol. 1-2. 2nd ed. Warsaw 1954, Wyd. MON. 8, pp. 203, [1]; 193, [1]. broch. Bibliot. Press.
Wraps slightly rubbed. Own stamp. A reviewer for "Przekroj" wrote: "The essential theme of the book, which is the first link in a series about the wartime and postwar countryside, is the history of Bartosz's partisan group. Telling the story of it gives the author an opportunity to mark the fundamental problems of the time: the social stratification of the countryside, the diversion of domestic fascists, the awareness and political education of peasant youth under fire. The rich anecdotal material, the vivid flow of the narrative, the ability to make the reader curious, these are the advantages of this interesting book." The novel was first published in 1953. At the end of vol. 1: "The secretary of the Party District was missing, the commander of the GL District was missing, but the red guerrilla sail was burning stronger and wider, and in its wake the breakthrough - the establishment of the KRN - was approaching." Faithful to the end.
