ŁYSIAK Waldemar - Frank Lloyd Wright. Warsaw 1982; Arkady. 8, pp. 30, [2], plates 30. brochure. Architecture and Architects of the Modern World.
Wraps slightly rubbed, corner creases and scratches to rear cover, internally good condition. Deleted bibliot. stamp. Elaborate graphic design. Jozef Worytkiewicz. On plates 75 illustrations. S. Gralka, in his biography of the writer, describes the circumstances of the book's creation as follows: "the authorities [of the Warsaw University of Technology] - seeing that there is no Polish-language biography and monograph on the work of one of the greatest architects of all time, the American Frank Lloyd Wright - decided, instead of translating a foreign one, to cause their own and select the author of the study through a competition. This was a competition for professionals (architects, urban planners, engineers, etc.; architecture students were also allowed to participate). Works were submitted and submitted anonymously [...]. When the envelope of the best work was opened, it was thought that it would contain the data of some professor or associate professor, meanwhile it was the data of a fourth-year student [...]. [The book] is still an academic textbook" (S. Gralka "Biography: Lysiak," War. 2020, pp. 51-52).
