St. Louis of Granada, owner of Louis de Sarría, (born 1505 in Granada, died December 31, 1588 in Lisbon) - Dominican mystic.
Although he came from a rather poor family, the boy's rare talent for elocution and shrewdness was soon noticed, and he patronized his education in the best schools. In 1526, he entered the Dominican order. He taught theology in the monastic seminaries. From 1554 he reformed the Scala Coeli monastery near Cordova. In 1564 he received a master's degree in theology. From 1557 to 1572 he was provincial of the order's Portuguese province. Among the most important works of Louis of Granada are: On Prayer and Meditation (229 Spanish editions), Guide to Sinners (81 Spanish editions). His works enjoyed phenomenal popularity in his contemporaries and in Spain and throughout Europe, thanks to the fervor of his convictions and the sincerity of his ascetic spirit. Having studied Cicero, he possessed the art of accurate argumentation and clear, lucid style. To this day he is considered the canonical stylist of his time in the Spanish language[1].Thetranslations of the works of Louis of Granada, available to Nicolas Sep-Szarzynski, are considered to be the source of the type of religiosity of this poet.
