Published in 1936, the publication of Dr. Ludwik Stolarzewicz is an expanded and revised edition of Dr. Stefan Hańcza's book The First Soldier of Reborn Poland (Lodz - Katowice 1928). On more than 600 pages the author introduced the figure of Jozef Pilsudski - the Marshal's biography is hagiographic in nature, Stolarzewicz charts the figure of the Commander-in-Chief as a national hero and leader who saved Poland from annihilation. The lavishly illustrated edition, supplied with quotations from Pilsudski's works, was very popular in the interwar period and its author one of the most widely read writers and publicists of the interwar period.
