LEBLANC Maurice - When the clock chimed eight... Authorized translation from the French. Bibljot. Senzational and Criminal Novels. Lvov 1925. ed. of Serene Works. 16d, pp. 211, [1]. Late fawn binding.
Extreme pages taped at spine, good condition. Own stamp. This volume contains 8 short stories about the adventures of the famous gentleman burglar Arsen Lupin, "who avoids bloodshed and harming honest people. [The novels] on the whole are kept in a good tone, but they have the bad side that they take up time, giving nothing of value in return except the gratification of unhealthy curiosity, and moreover idealize a man who, after all, is a slaughterer" (Pirozynski 142). Another translation was titled "Eight beats of the clock."
