Krystyn Lach Szyrma (born December 17, 1790 in Wojnasy, died April 21, 1866 in Devonport) - Polish philosopher, writer and publicist, translator, political activist.
His three-volume work England and Scotland. Reminders of travels... (Warsaw, 1828) became very popular and earned him ordinary membership in the Warsaw Society of Friends of Science.
Rare in set. Illustrations - lithographs on separate plates, woodcuts in the text.
HARDCOVER FULL CONTEMPORARY LEATHER. COVERS SURROUNDED BY BLIND-STAMPED BORDERS, FLAT SPINE WITH STRIKING EMBOSSING AND GILDING. HAND-COLORED MARBLED PAPER ON THE COVERS, ALL PAGE EDGES GILT. THE INTERIORS OF THE COVERS FINISHED WITH INTRICATE GILT EMBOSSED STENCILING.

BDB-/ condition of vol.1: lacks preface p. and 1 illustration; vol.3: staining of 3 last pages; rust stains [foxing], BEAUTIFUL COMPLETE.
