August Kwaśnicki - born August 17, 1839 in Topory - died June 4, 1931 in Kraków - Polish physician, January Insurgent of 1863. He completed his studies in Kyiv. In 1863 he settled in Turkey where he was a doctor of the Sultan's Guard in Constantinople, and from 1870 director of the French Hospital in Adrianople. In 1874 he returned to Poland, to Krakow where he joined the Society of Physicians, and from 1875 was a long-time and active member. From 1896 to 1905 he was editor-in-chief of the Medical Review For his services to the Society and the Review, his portrait by Jacek Malczewski was hung in the meeting room. He was the author of many treatises in the field of hygiene. A pediatric specialist, he was involved in the prevention of childhood diseases and the history of medicine. He described the various symptoms and course: diphtheria and measles. Member of the Polish Academy of skills.
