From the author's introduction: "In the period from the beginning of the 14th to the 2nd half of the 16th century, virtually only two magnate families, the Tarnowskis and the Tęczynskis, maintained their uninterrupted membership in the strict political elite of the Polish Kingdom. A monographic presentation of the careers, social position and property of the Tęczyńskis of the coat of arms Axe in the medieval period is the purpose of this work."
Aleksander Gieysztor (1916-1999) - medieval historian, professor at Warsaw University, member of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Knight of the Order of the White Eagle.
