Piecefrom the book collection of Captain Wilhelm Wilczynski (1897-1972), who served as an officer of the 5th Infantry Regiment of the 1st Brigade of the Legions during the years of World War I. After Poland regained its independence, he joined the Polish Army and took part in the battles for the borders of the reborn state. In the interwar period, he was an officer in the Polish Army and the Border Protection Corps. During World War II, he participated in underground activities in the Vilnius region.

The author discusses the art of war before Napoleon's appearance, and then describes the Italian campaigns of 1796/7, the Italian 1800, in Germany and Austria 1805, the Prussian 1806, the Polish 1806/7, the Danube 1809, in Russia 1812, the Saxon 1813, the French 1814 and the campaign of 1815. The last chapter summarizes Napoleon's art of war. The second part of the book includes an atlas with 99 black-and-white sketches showing army groupings, battle plans, etc.
