The most important historical work by Marcin Kromer of the Kromer coat of arms (born November 11, 1512 in Biecz, died. March 23, 1589 in Lidzbark Warmiński) - humanist, historian and writer of the Renaissance period, music theorist, diplomat; from 1579 bishop of Warmia, Sandomierz custodian, canon of Kraków, Wiślica, Kielce and Warmia, one of the leaders of the Polish Counter-Reformation; wrote in Polish and Latin, secretary to King Sigismund I the Old from 1544, diplomatic representative of the Republic in the Church State in 1548.
The second Polish translation of the famous "Polish Chronicle" by Marcin Kromer, led to the death and burial in 1506 of King Alexander Jagiellon.The first edition in Polish was published in Krakow in 1611.
