On the back of the title page, handwritten dedication by the Author. Edges of pages marbled. Adam Stanislaw Krasinski (1810-1891) - Bishop of Vilnius, Polish writer. He was not a supporter of the January Uprising, but also refused to support the tsarist authorities, as a result of which he was in exile from 1863 to 1882. He was exiled to the European part of Russia, to the city of Vyatka. There he worked on the dictionary "Synonyms of the Polish language." After his release from exile, faced with a ban on returning to Vilnius, he went to Krakow, where he stayed in a Piarist monastery for the rest of his life, writing academic papers on Polish philology, translating Roman writers and writing poetry. He was appointed an active member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences for his scientific works. Good condition, non-existent rubbing of binding, erased stamps of bibl. Rare.
