"I was at the Council from beginning to end. I wrote about it to the country "hot" experiencing - as a lay observer - its main events. I noted them usually in a hurry, wherever I could: sometimes on the hood of a car, in St. Peter's Basilica, in a cafe or a tractor-trailer. I met many people of the Council, and some of them did not hesitate to bestow their lasting friendship on a Polish correspondent - a Marxist at that - in addition. This is how these pages were created, which claim nothing but one thing: sincerity and kindness flowing from the heart. Because I think that's what it takes to objectively present a phenomenon that, regardless of the assessment of its results, stunned the world for four years." (I. Krasicki)
