Aniela Pawlikowska née Wolska, a.k.a. "Lela" (Aniela Pawlikowska née Wolska, a.k.a. "Lela" (born July 11, 1901 in Lvov, died December 23, 1980 in London) - Polish painter, portraitist and author of book illustrations). - Polish painter, portraitist and author of book illustrations. Her public debut (not counting an exhibition of children's works) was the illustrations and graphic design of the bibliophilic edition of Michał Pawlikowski's work Agnieszka albo o Pannie na niedźwiedziu (Medicine 1925). This pastiche of medieval incunabula - especially Balthasar Behem's Codex, which she knew well - inaugurated the activities of the Biblioteka Medyka publishing house, which by 1939 had published fifteen titles, graphically designed and often illustrated by Lela Pawlikowska. Among the most important in Pawlikowska's illustrative output were two volumes by Beata Obertynska: The Guitar and Those (Medyka 1926), with six stylized illustrations, and On the Frost Brothers. A Calendar Dream (Medyka 1930). Also important in her oeuvre were color gouaches and black-and-white linocuts for Zofia Kossak-Szczucka's book Szaleńcy Boży (Krakow 1929). After the war, Pawlikowska collaborated with Veritas, a publishing house operating in London, with graphic design for more than a dozen titles.
