KONWICKI Tadeusz - Władza. Warsaw 1954; Czytelnik. 8, p. 391. oryg. fawn, wraps.
Wraps slightly rubbed, good condition. Owner's signature. Wrapper, cover and initials designed by Jan Lenica. After the text the imprint: "End of the first part" (no more came out). A novel in the social realist trend considered by critics to be a continuation of Jerzy Andrzejewski's "Ashes and Diamonds". "The brightest literary and dramatic side of Konwicki's book are the pages devoted not to the authorities - but to the antagonists of power, not to the revolution - but to the counter-revolution, not to the people of the Polish Workers' Party, but to Derkacz's gang" (J. Strzelecki in "Nowa Kultura", quoted in M. Fik "Polish Culture after Yalta", London 1989, p. 197). And in the 1970s, he "earned the name of dissident [...] with literary works critical of the reality of the Polish People's Republic, including 'Kalendarz i klepsydra' (1976), 'Kompleks Polski' (1977) and 'Mała apokalipsa' (1979)" (Wikipedia).
