Four patents by Michal Karnicki of devices that make it possible to free oneself from the coffin of those buried alive; includes descriptions and detailed contruction plans. Taffephobia - the fear of being buried alive; this fear was particularly strong in the late 17th and early 18th centuries and in the first half of the 19th century. People suffering from teraphobia left dysphagia in their wills about how their body should be handled after death, to be absolutely sure that they were dead. 9287/8
