"In steel storms" is a new Polish translation of one of the earliest texts by Ernest Juenger (1895-1998): a kind of personal diary from the fronts of World War I, in which the author participated as an officer in the German infantry. The piece underwent numerous authorial metamorphoses, evolving from youthful admiration for the deeds and weapons of the Germanic warrior to a reflective, expressive picture of the tragedy of war. The subsequent third version of the work (1923) helped solidify Juenger's reputation as an apologist for militarism and German nationalism. This very text was the basis of the Polish translation, published in 1935, entitled "The Prince of Infantry. "The Prince of Infantry." The last, canonical version of the text, along with the evolution of the writer's worldview, changed its pronunciation significantly, becoming a literary work, devoid of political tendencies.
