Leopold Janikowski (1855-1942) was a meteorologist, ethnographer and traveler, participant in the first Polish documented research expedition to Africa led by Stefan Szolc-Rogozinski. On the front cover is a handwritten dedication by Andrzej Kulwieć (1884-1946)-soldier of Jozef Pilsudski's 1st Cadre Company of the Legions, adjutant to General Władysław Sikorski, lecturer at the Officer School for Non-Commissioned Officers in Bydgoszcz, during World War II in the resistance movement. One plate missing, traces of light dampness.
