Slight staining of the portfolio, good condition. One plate missing. Portfolio containing a card with introductory text, four portraits (of Emperor Franz Joseph, Archduke Charles, Archduke Frederick, and General Conrad), and 106 plates with 6, 7, or 8 photographs from the Austrian army's combat route in the Polish territories. The technically superb photographs show all aspects of frontline life: marches, contacts with the population, quarters, staff offices, artillery positions, cleaning of weapons, work in workshops, automobile service, transport and work of prisoners of war, work on the land, maintenance of horses, construction of a tunnel under Miechow, construction of bridges (including those at Mogile and Nowy Korczyn), road construction, field post activities, the visit of Archduke Frederick. Charles, a visit to a bathhouse, the installation of a hospital, a military cemetery, the construction of telegraph lines, and ships on the Vistula. The following towns were immortalized in the photos: Słomniki, Kazimierza Wielka, Dąbrowa, Będzin, Szczucin, Miechów, Busko, Sokal, Kocmyrzów (now within the borders of Kraków), Jędrzejów, Wolbrom, Krystynopol, Lwów, Olkusz, Skole, Beresteczko, Bielsko, Wiślica, Dubno, Skalbmierz, Kraków, Oświęcim, Żółkiew. The portfolio presents great documentary value - many of the photos included in it have not been processed by historians to this day and remain outside the scientific circulation.
