HLAWATY Andrzej - History of the 6th Kaniowski Cavalry Regiment. London 1973. published by the "Review of Cavalry and Armored Arms", through the efforts of the 6th Regiment Circle [...]. 8, p. 148. pamphlet. "Cavalry and Armored Weapons Review" issue, no. 5.
Good condition. Illustrations in the text. Issued 300 copies through the efforts of the Circle of the 6th Cavalry Cavalry Regiment. Comprehensive monograph of the regiment. The author - Andrzej Hlawaty was a long-time officer of the 6th Uhlan Regiment, a graduate of the Higher War College, assigned to the Chief Commander's Staff during the September Campaign of 1939. His further unusual fate is described in a Facebook post in the profile "Szabla i koń - Polish Cavalry 1918-1939". "After losing the campaign, he made his way to Great Britain and in 1941 was 'transferred' with 272 other Polish officers to serve in the British colonial forces and fought in their ranks during the war in Gambia and Burma. He was appreciated - as a foreigner he was given the honor of commanding a British regiment (with the rank of major). After the war, he remained in His Majesty's service and fought in Kenya and Egypt, among other places. He left the army only in 1957, with the rank of colonel. 3rd Regiment of the Royal Hussars. It is interesting to note that Polish President Władysław Raczkiewicz promoted him to major in the Polish Army, but Hlawaty did not accept this rank, claiming that he did not deserve it because he fought in the troops of a foreign country. For the rest of his life, he had himself titled rotmistrz and signed his name that way, too" (https://www.facebook.com/szablaikon/posts).
