Raul Hilberg's book is a comprehensive study of the Holocaust of European Jewry, running to more than 3,200 pages. The first edition of the book was published in 1961, the second in 1985 and the third in 2003. The Polish edition is expanded with the author's corrections, which he created until the last moments of his life, spending more than 50 years of his life on it. It is a precise, detailed and perfectly organized picture of the annihilation of the Jewish community in Europe carried out by the hierarchical structures operating in the Third Reich: the Nazi party, business, administration and army, together forming the machinery of the Holocaust.
