S. Hempel (1892-1954) - engineer, constructor. In 1925 he was entrusted with the position of assistant to the chair of industrial construction at the Warsaw University of Technology. In parallel with his academic work, in 1926-31 he worked in the Construction Department of the Ministry of Military Affairs, and then began a free professional practice. Among other things, he designed one of the largest reinforced concrete halls in Mielec, as well as the original mast structure at the Polish pavilion at the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris. A feature highlighted in Hempel's work was the novelty and boldness of his construction ideas and great attention to the aesthetics of the structure. He was a pioneer of the direction aiming to educate the constructor-artist (after PSB).
