Wilhelm Hauff (born November 29, 1802 in Stuttgart, died November 18, 1827 there) - German writer. He studied theology, philology and philosophy in Tübingen. He wrote novels, novellas and fairy tales, and belonged to the circle of Swabian poets. His tales have been published many times in Poland, especially "The Tale of the Caliph Stork" ("Die Geschichte vom Kalif Storch", 1826; Polish edition - 1921), which is also included in this collection.
