Audiatur et altera pars.
Leipzig 1831. by F. A. Brockhaus. 8, pp. VI, 81, opr. pperg. contemporary, fragment of pamphlet cover. pasted on the face.
Good condition, browning on pages in places, traces of sagging, copy uncut. Publisher's catalog note (Brockhaus): "The task of this publication is to illuminate "from the other side" the tragic situation of the deplorable Poles after the November Uprising. The author of these critical remarks, according to Ernst Heinrich Kneschke's "Adels-Lexikon", "since 1818 a major and adjutant of the Frankfurt Defense Inspectorate," protests here against this type of "journalism", which "with the help of falsification of facts and even lies, slander of the opponent, etc." attempts to provide the most far-reaching support and goodwill for the November Uprising of 1830/31." The publication, published anonymously, refers to the November Uprising, especially the resonance of this war among the German public, often sympathetic to our independence uprising. The author was a German officer, stationed in Gniezno during the Napoleonic Wars, among other places.
