Girs-Barcz, Artistic Shop. Catalog No. 1. Warsaw [1938-1939]. [Printed by] Oficyna Warszawska. 16d, folder, p. [4].
Extreme pages somewhat dusty. A trace of the little-known sphere of activity of the illustrious Girs-Barcz artistic tandem. Their Art Store, located adjacent to the IPS on Królewska Street, was established in the late 1930s. In their first (and last?) catalog, published in 1938 (when Oficyna Warszawska was founded) or 1939, they wrote: "The sales program includes printmaking of all kinds and techniques, art publications and decorative prints, small format paintings, watercolors, drawings, old sculpture, metal products, ceramics [...]. A special printing department is launched at the store, making all kinds of decorative prints, letter blanks, and so on." The presented catalog contains a description of nearly 170 prints by contemporary Polish artists (including E. Bartlomiejczyk, A. Cukierówna, the Girs-Barcz duo, T. Kulisiewicz, S. Mrożewski, L. Tyrowicz, T. Cieślewski's son) and 21 small black and white reproductions. The informative text was folded in MIlitari font developed by Girs and Barcz. Rare.
