"The life work of Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski, political writer, thinker and moralist, contains an in-depth analysis of the system of the Republic of Poland and a concept of comprehensive reform of the country in the fields of political life, legislation, education and relations with the Church. The vision presented by Frycz was an attempt to indicate the right course of action for those in power. Among other things, he advocated strong royal power subordinated to the law, equality of all before the law and fair courts."

"Frycz's bold ideas were ahead of their time. His beliefs in defending individual freedom and dignity, as well as his demands for tolerance and ecumenism, inspired subsequent generations, finding fruition in later times.

The work consisted of five books: On Customs, On Laws, On War, and On the Church and School. The last two were omitted from print, as a result of censorship measures exercised by the Krakow Academy at the time. The entire work was published a few years later in Switzerland. Translations into German, French, as well as Spanish and Russian were published. The work in a censored version was translated into Polish in 1577, and the full Polish text was published in 1953. Due to the polemical nature of Frycz's writings, they were placed on the index of forbidden books, and the author himself was attacked as a heretic, even though he strongly advocated the unity of Christianity."
