Tadeusz Pankiewicz - Polish pharmacist, graduate of the Jagiellonian University, owner of the "Pod Orłem" pharmacy in Cracow, the only pharmacy operating in the Cracow ghetto. For his work in aiding and saving Jews, he was awarded the medal "Righteous Among the Nations" on February 10, 1983.
ZAHORSKA Helena, owner: H. Ziolkowska, married Pauly, Pauli (8 II 1893 Warsaw - 31 XII 1950 Warsaw), actress. She was the daughter of Franciszek and Zofia Ziółkowski. She graduated from the Z. Kurmanowa gymnasium in Warsaw, then from the Drama Class at the Warsz. Tow. Muzyczny, where she was a student of M. Frenkel. She made her debut on July 23, 1915 at Warsaw's T. Maly in the role of Marin. T. Mały in the role of Marinetta ("The Reservist") and continued to act in this play for the following month. In turn, she made her debut: October 22, 1915 at T. Ludowy in Cracow in the role of Kaśka ("Kaśka Kariatyda"), and on December 12 of that year at T. im. T. Słowacki in the title role in Aristophanes' "Gromiwoi". She then performed in Krak. T. Ludowy, and from March 1916 to the end of 1918 at T. im. Słowacki. From January 1919, she played in Warsaw's Municipal T.; initially in T. Praski, from October 1919 to 1924 in T. Rozmaitości, and in 1924-31 mainly in T. Narodowy. In 1933 she performed at T. Kameralny. Then she interrupted stage work for several years. Since January 1938 she appeared in T. Ateneum, and in July and August she was with this t. for performances in Cracow. During the German occupation of Poland during World War II, she took part in numerous concerts and literary evenings organized secretly in Warsaw. She was imprisoned for a year in the Pawiak prison. In 1945, she initially performed in touring events, in the 1945/46 season at the Stary T. in Cracow; later she taught at the Krak. State. Drama School. From 1949 until her death she was a member of the ensemble of T. Powszechny in Warsaw.
