Émile Louis Victor de Laveleye (April 5, 1822 - January 3, 1892) Was a Belgian economist . He was one of the co-founders of the Institut de Droit International in 1873.
Laveleye's name is particularly associated with bimetallism and primitive property , and he was particularly interested in the revival and protection of small nationalities. But his work spanned the entire field of political science, political economy, monetary issues, international law, foreign and Belgian politics, questions of education, religion and morality, travel and literature.
