At the beginning an extensive text about the author written by Seweryn Czetwertyński - son of the author of the memoirs, then another introduction about the author of the memoirs by Stanislaw Wasylewski, author of popular historical books.
Wlodzimierz Ludwik Stanislaw Czetwertyński-Światopełk (born September 26, 1837 in Voronchyn, died August 20, 1918 in Warsaw) - prince, counselor of the Committee of the Land Credit Society, conspirator, civilian head of the Lutsk district in the January Uprising, exile, land citizen of Siedlce gubernia in 1909.
He took part in the January Uprising in Volhynia. He was sentenced to hard labor for life (his sentence was shortened due to his family's efforts), confiscation of his property and loss of public rights and title. The memoirs describe in detail, among other things, his journey to exile in Siberia to Usol, near Irkutsk, where he worked in a salt factory.
After returning from exile, Czetwertyński settled in Milanów near Parczew, where he did charity work, hunted and enlarged the family library. It is believed that Prince Włodzimierz Czetwertyński was instrumental in raising the profile of Polish hunting.
There are threads in the memoirs about the author's bibliophilic passion.
