issue of the magazine published moments after the plebiscite on the ethnic Polish-German borderland, which was delineated in 1919 in the Treaty of Versailles, ending World War I. The plebiscite was preceded by two uprisings by part of the Upper Silesian population demanding annexation to Poland. The plebiscite took place on March 20, 1921. Just over a month after the plebiscite, the Third Silesian Uprising broke out.

Kocynder ("Kocynder. Czasopismo wesołe - górnośląskie") - Upper Silesian humor and satirical monthly^, published in Silesian ethnolect and in Polish in 1920-1939 and after the war in 1946-1958. The newspaper played a major role during the plebiscite and the Silesian uprisings gaining great popularity among Upper Silesians.
