Warsaw 1939, published by F. Hoesick's Bookstore. 12.5x18.5 cm, pp. 272, half cloth binding, publisher's softcover (designed by author) preserved. Good condition (traces of folding and soiling of the cover, minor rubbing of the binding, ex libris on the front pastedown).
Published just before the war (printing was completed in April), in an edition of 1350 pieces, a novel (the only one?) by Tadeusz Cieślewski junior (1895-1944), one of the most outstanding and popular graphic artists of the interwar period. Piece with handwritten notes, autograph (in two places) and dedication by the author: "Saved from the conflagration of September 1939 in Warsaw! (...) Dear Mr. Andrzej! (...) I sincerely hug you entrusting this booklet into your hands. T. Cieslewski. Warsaw, 27.02.1943." "Mr. Andrzej" is presumably Andrzej Banach (as indicated by the ex libris of Gabriela [Eli] Banach on the backstrip), art historian and critic, traveler, collector.
