"Brzeźwieki Łukasz Szymon, Polish lexicographer of the 17th century, author of a dictionary of unambiguous words entitled Synonyma latina ex variis autho-ribus collata. Polon. et Lat. (Kr. 1602, 1639, 1645) and Puerilia ex variis onomasticis excerpta et in usum iuventułis Polonae publicata (Kr. 1625); Puerilia puri idiornatis latini promptuaria (Kr. 1632); Puerilia idiomatis latini promptuaria (Kr. 1639, 1646). In his compilation he used Volkmar ("Dictionarium quadrilingue", 1594), but did so indiscriminately and incompetently, repeating his errors and lapses against Polish. This was pointed out to him harshly by Knapius, followed by Siarczynski. This view is modified upon closer comparison of the source; for it can be concluded that B. "had Volkmar at hand, but he completed and altered much himself; it is therefore not a slavish alteration." (Estreicher, XIII, 395)" (PSB).
