Handwritten dedication by the author on the frontispiece page . Unwarranted rubbing of covers, in the text notes and underlining in pen, rusty spots on boards and duvet pages, otherwise good condition. On Nicolaus Copernicus and the reception of his heliocentric system in Italy in the 2nd half of the 16th and first half of the 17th centuries, together with unpublished documents on Giordano Bruno and Galileo Galilei. Domenico Berti (1820-1897) was a philosopher, essayist and politician, who taught at the universities of Turin and Rome and specialized in Italian Renaissance thought. The present text was translated into Polish "Copernicus and the Adventures of the Copernican System in Italy in the Second Half of the Sixteenth and the First Half of the Seventeenth Centuries", the text appeared in Biblioteka Warszawska, 1878, Vol. 3-4.
