(Estr. does not note). Beitler's thesis in mathematics. Wilhelm Gottlieb Friedrich Beitler (1745-1811) - German mathematician and astronomer; became a lawyer in 1767. In Poland, he taught Countess Skorzewska, and was later appointed professor of mathematics in Mitau. He was also an astronomer at the local observatory - he was best known for his observations of the satellites of Jupiter.
