Z. Bauman (1925-2017) - an outstanding sociologist, philosopher, essayist, one of the founders of the concept of postmodernism. Winner of many national and international awards. In the first post-war years he was an agent of Military Information, served in the KBW, from where he was released in 1953 on the orders of Marsh. Rokossowski. He then began his scientific work at the Univ. of Warsaw, where he defended his doctoral thesis and received his habilitation. In the mid-1960s, he supported students advocating democratic reforms in the country. In 1968, on the wave of the anti-Semitic campaign, he was dismissed from the university and left the country. He became associated with the University of Leeds, and in time became an international authority in the field of sociology.
