Cover slightly rubbed and discolored, block slightly cracked, otherwise very good condition inside. Binding: brown leather, 6-poly spine with scrolls, moiré boards, artist's name gilt on front cover. Lacks interleaving blotters with descriptions of illustrated works (except 1). Own stamp. A. Szczepki. Elegantly published monograph of the work of the French painter of the Napoleonic era. Issued in 500 num. copies, this one No. 154. Contains 72 full-page illustrations within pagination and numerous illustrations in the text. At the end, a detailed catalog of works covering 291 items.
J. B. Isabey (1767-1855) - French painter, miniaturist and illustrator. His teachers were Jean Girardet, Jean-Baptiste-Charles Claudot and Jean-Baptiste Augustin. He was employed at Versailles by the Duke of Angoulême and the Duc de Berry. Later, he worked for Napoleon Bonaparte and Josephine.
