Album of the Rymarkiewicz family from Poznan 42 cardboard photographs from largely from various ateliers in Poznan but also Kalisz, Radom, Kudowai Zdrój, Ostrowo, Inowrocław Wągrowiec.
More noteworthy are:
1. photograph by Jan Rymarkieiwcz - (born June 23, 1811 in Łobżenica, died October 18, 1889 in Poznań) - Polish educational activist, historian, polonist, teacher, November insurrectionist. He was also active as a journalist, cooperating with the magazine "Tygodnik literacki". In 1845-1846 he was editor of the "Gazeta Wielkiego Xięstwa Poznański".
This is a Cabinet Portrait from the Court Photographic Establishment of A and F Zeuschner which is described on the back :" This photograph was donated to St. p. Dean Stanislaw Rymarkiewicz " - Photograph from the years 1850/1860
In the collection there is another photograph of Jan Rymarkieiwcz already in old age, i.e. from the 1880s. Takenat Atelier Rivoli et Cie. - The photographic establishment of Angelika and Eufemia Rivoli was located on what was then Berlinska Street (today 27 Grudnia Street) in Poznan.
2. Photograph - Rev. Stanislaw Rymarkiewicz from Atelier Rubens - Rev. Stanislaw Kostka Rymarkiewicz - (1829-1912), priest, dean, January Uprising insurgent of 1863, born on October 29 in Wschowa, was the son of Kazimierz, a court writer, and Ewa, née Brauns
3. photograph of the Art. Fotograficzny Zakład M. Raczynski in Kalisz - Portrait of Kazimierz Rymarkiewicz from the 1880s - (born April 24, 1859 in Kalisz, died March 24, 1918 in Warsaw) - Polish lawyer, judge, attorney, social, cultural and educational activist.
3. an interesting feature of the album are 4 photographs of a man and a woman arranged in sequence - one of them described : " To Her Ladyship Countess W. Potocka I offer my likeness as a token of respect, [monogram tied with the letter R] and the date Plesen 27.V 1932.
- It is possible that a photograph of Countess W. Potocka was placed below this described photograph.
The people depicted in the other photographs were certainly respected figures of 19th century Poznan and beyond, and mainly the family of Jan Rymarkiewicz whose photograph opens the album.
Album bound in brown leather with Art Nouveau floral motifs. The album lacks a hook for fastening the buckle. Photograph windows partially torn and damaged. Photographs in very good condition.

Jan Rymarkiewicz ( 1811, 1889) biographical note -.
Born in Lobznica as the son of a shoemaker. He was educated in his hometown, and later in Wschowa and Poznan. In 1830-1831 he interrupted his gymnasium education and took part in the November Uprising. He was wounded in one of the battles and was taken into Russian captivity. From 1836 to 1840 he was a private teacher in Berlin, where he studied philosophy, law and history. In 1841 he returned to the Grand Duchy of Poznan and taught until 1876 at Poznan schools - the Frederick William Gymnasium and the Royal Gymnasium of St. Mary Magdalene. He was actively involved in the social and cultural activities of Wielkopolska. He was a lifelong president of the Society of Scientific Aid for Youth of the Grand Duchy of Poznan, a member of the Society of Popular Education and the Society of Friends of Science. He collaborated with Karol Libelt and August Cieszkowski. He devoted much space in his work to national and messianic themes. He died on October 18, 1889 in Poznań and was buried in the Cemetery of the Distinguished People of Wielkopolska.
