One of Sobieski's most coveted sixpences.
A very intriguing crown issue, attributed in the literature to the Cracow mint, but with a portrait in the style of Danzig ducats, additionally distinguished by a border around the portrait! It is also intriguing because of its manufacturing technique - embossing on a cylinder, instead of the traditional stamping.
According to an expert on the subject of Polish ducats, Sergiusz Stube, it is the work of Jan Höhn (a Danzig medallicist), who made it at the behest of one of the crown mints, which was experimenting with a cylinder.
A numismat of great rarity.
Contrary to catalog estimates, virtually unheard of in the trade. We, in the company's history to date, have had this type only 1 time (in 2016).
