A discussion of basic photographic techniques illustrated with the author's photograms - the first comprehensive work by a prominent Vilnius photographer devoted to the art of photography. The artist commented on his book as follows: "I do not intend to give a comprehensive technical and scientific textbook, this has already been done by others more called to do so - I prefer to content myself with the role of an artistic advisor, for I have always considered photographic knowledge not as an end, but as a means to achieve artistic goals, which I preferred to seek at the source - in communing with the mystery of nature and life" (quoted in "Jan Bulhak.
