Stains in places inside vol. 1, otherwise good condition. Ex. uncut and uncut. First edition of the first volume of Adam Naruszewicz's monumental work, the most important in the output of the eminent historian. Volumes 2-7 were first published in 1780-1788. Volume one, unfinished by the author, was not published in two parts until 1824, through the efforts of the Warsaw Royal Society of Friends of Sciences, based on manuscripts stored in the Pulawy Library and in the book collection of Józef Sierakowski. Volume one covered pre-historic history, ending before the Piasts took the throne.
