LISIEWICZ Mieczyslaw - U 33. Cracow 1931. book lovers' society. 16d, pp. 27. broch.
Wraps slightly yellowed, otherwise very good condition. Axlibris of F. Seifert for Jaroslaw Doliński. Poem about a sunken submarine. "A capital poet of the sea is Mieczyslaw Lisiewicz (most interestingly: an aviator), who felt so deeply into the element of the sea as probably no one beside him. Lisiewicz, as he writes of himself, is in truth a 'fish with bones.' His poetry conceals the green mystery of the terrible seas: eerie silence, a cluster of pale fish and the outline of a sunken boat, inside of which are crowded the skeletons of drowned men" ("The Sea in Polish Poetry," War. 1937, p. 31).
