Back cover partially browned, internally very good condition. A shocking anthology containing inscriptions on the walls of prison cells, letters of those condemned to death, poems written while awaiting execution, children's writings, archives hidden at Auschwitz and in the ghettos, and messages to survivors. The author was a leader of the underground network at the death camp, and after the war headed the Provincial Jewish Historical Commission in Cracow. From 1947 he lived in Paris.
