Slight folding of cover edges, very good condition. Ex. almost entirely uncut. Polish translation of the "Chronicle" written in the early 11th century. "The Chronicle, in the part covering the end of the 9th century and much of the 10th century, is based on historiographical and hagiographical works known to Thietmar. Its value, however, increases in those parts where Thietmar draws on oral tradition and his own experience as a witness to events. In addition to the history of Merseburg and the German state, Thietmar also included a great deal of information on the history of Europe, including the Polish lands. Among other things, he recounted the Congress of Gniezno and the wars between Emperor Henry II and Prince Boleslaw I the Brave" (Wikipedia).
